Used to work in a BBQ grill restaurant in New York and all I made was side dishes.. I was the chefs right arm and was thought very well. One of the best side dishes I made was their creamy mash potatoes, always had guests ordering seconds.Mash Potatoes are extremely popular in American and tend to be a favorite side dish other than french fries.
Mashed Potatoes are a must side dish for BBQ’s or any meal involving meats or fish… Nothing beats the freshness of homemade mashed potatoes.
Creamy Mashed Potatoes Recipe (How To Instructions)
1. Start by peeling 10 potatoes, you can use any potato but the best potatoes for mashed potatoes are Yukon Gold potatoes. They are packed with flavor and rich in starch, this makes them more buttery and fluffy when mashed.
2. Once peeled cut each potato in two or three pieces and put them in a 3/4 medium pot of boiling water. Add one pinch of salt and let boil until potatoes are soft and ready to mash. You can check if the potato are done by putting a fork through one potato. If it goes through easy the potatoes are done and ready to be mashed.
3. Pour the potatoes in a colander to drain the water and then put them back in the pot without water on low heat. Add 1 egg, 1/2 a cup of cream milk, and 1 Tbsp of butter. Mash the potatoes with a potato masher until its well mixed and you see no lumps. Add desired salt and taste.
4. Congratulations! You have now made the best creamy mashed potatoes.. You can top them with flaked oregano, sauce, or gravy. A good trick to plate the mashed potatoes into little balls next to the meat is to use a conventional ice cream scoop. Enjoy!
