The California roll is a sort of inside-out sushi (also called uramaki) in which the exterior of the roll is made with a sticky rice (sushi rice) or Vinegared rice and Nori (edible seaweed sheets). This outside of the roll usually includes cucumber, avocado, crab or imitation crab. Tobiko, Sesame seeds or Masago are often sprinkled on over the rice.
The California roll recipe quickly is now among the most famous forms of sushi in the United States, and it can now be seen on restaurant tables all over the globe. The sushi dish is a fusion cuisine favorite due to its combination of Asian and Western cooking styles.
