Miami Cuban Sandwich

Cuban Sandwich With Swiss Cheese, Pork & Ham (Miami Style)

Grew up in Miami and right next to where I work there’s a little Cuban family owned restaurant not more than 1500 square feet with lines of people outside waiting to feast on their cuban sandwiches. Very easy to make at home.

They are perfect on the go hearty meals for lunch. Cuban Sandwiches are packed with flavor and deliciousness.. The Cubano sandwich is very easy to make, there’s not many ingredients or cooking involved.. The last time I visited Cuba I had several of of them, surprisingly they make their sandwiches very thin and had only yellow mustard as a sauce spread.

Miami Cuban sandwiches tend to be a little thicker than the traditional sandwiches in Cuba and the yellow mustard is usually mixed with mayonnaise and other ingredients..

How To Make A Cuban Sandwich

1. The first thing you want to do is make the spread sauce for the bread. Amount of sauce depends on how many sandwiches you want to make.

For 1 sandwich add 3 tablespoons of Mayonnaise in a small bowl, 1 Tablespoon of yellow mustard and 1 teaspoon of cayenne and stir to mix.

2. Spread the sauce on the 2 sliced half breads.

3. Layer one side of the bread with all the ingredients starting with the Swiss cheese, ham, pre-cooked pulled pork and final layer of Swiss cheese and top it with slices of pickles.

4. Now your delicious Cuban sandwich is ready to press. If you are pressing the sandwich with a sandwich presser spread a little butter on the top and bottom of the sandwich, press until cheese melts and bread gets golden crispy. If you are using a cast iron pan make sure you butter the pan.. Enjoy!
